With the Super Bowl coming this weekend, we’ve got a lot to look forward to from the film industry, which will be launching a slew of new TV spots during the game. Last night, we saw an awesome preview for Marvel’s Iron Man 3.
And now the studio have released an awesome new poster for the threequel, in which we get to see Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark / Iron Man at his most vulnerable.
“Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?”
Downey, Jr. is joined by another excellent cast, headed up by Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau, Wang Xueqi, and Ben Kingsley, with Paul Bettany reprising his role as the voice of JARVIS.
Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) is taking over the helm from Jon Favreau, with Black directing from a script he co-wrote with Drew Pearce (the upcoming Sherlock Holmes 3, Godzilla).
The first trailer that landed back in October was nothing short of immense. It suggested a slightly darker tone for the upcoming blockbuster, though we expect there’s still plenty of fun with Downey, Jr. front and centre.
Iron Man 3 will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 26th April here in the UK, with its US release date set for 3rd May. I can’t wait. Smart money says this will be one of the best films of the year. Be sure to check back on Sunday for the full TV spot from the Super Bowl. And for now, here’s the awesome new poster, which you can click through to enlarge.
