Aside from the fact they are two wonderful pieces of British cinema, the one thing that ties both Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting, with the upcoming Jon S. Baird film Filth – is Irvine Welsh, the man who penned both of the novels the films are adapted from. It was therefore our pleasure to discuss Filth with the Scottish author, as man who has had as distinct a mark on popular culture as anyone else in the past 20 years.
Welsh discusses what makes this adaptation of Filth so special, and how protective he is of his writing in regards to letting it be adapted into film. He also shows us a certain tattoo he has recently got to mark the release of this film, while talking about the potential sequel to Trainspotting, Porno.
