Christopher-NolanFollowing up last year’s immense franchise-concluder, The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan announced earlier in the year that he’d next be getting behind the camera for Interstellar.

Nolan entered talks back in January to come on board to direct the sci-fi blockbuster, which then had a script penned by his brother and frequent collaborator, Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight Trilogy).

Now Interstellar has officially been set for release on 7th November, 2014, and it will be getting a release in IMAX theatres as well.

The film will depict a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding.

Whilst Jonathan Nolan had originally penned the script, the press release below notes that Christopher Nolan will now be writing the script himself, based on Jonathan Nolan’s original script.

Paramount and Warner Bros. have come together for a very uncommon partnership, with two of the biggest movie studios co-producing and -distributing the film.

Nolan’s last three films – The Dark Knight, Inception, and The Dark Knight Rises – all rank in the top fifty highest-grossing films of all time. So it’s of course not a surprise that Paramount and Warner Bros. would be willing to work together to bring Interstellar to the big screen.

Inception, in particular, is perhaps the most note-worthy, in terms of box office figures. Whilst it didn’t cross the $1bn. mark like Nolan’s last two Batman films, taking $825m. around the world, it did get very close, and it did so without having any built-in audience that the Batman franchise has.

Yes, it of course had Nolan’s name attached to it, along with an impeccable cast. But it was an original idea, just like Interstellar is, and it became a behemoth blockbuster that took the world by storm.

Paramount will be handling the film’s distribution Stateside, with Warner Bros. distributing abroad.

With the film’s release date now firmly set for the end of next year, keep your fingers tightly crossed that we’ll start to hear casting news very soon. Because November 2014 is fortunately not all that far away. And we can’t wait for this to develop.

Interstellar is now officially set for release in regular and IMAX theatres on 7th November, 2014. This is going to be epic.
