Inside-Llewyn-DavisThere are a handful of filmmakers that will have almost universal anticipation surrounding future projects, and the Coen brothers are certainly counted among them. Inside Llewyn Davis is the latest feature from Joel and Ethan Coen, and we can’t wait for its debut.

We saw the first set photos from the film way back in February last year, and had been hoping that it might see the light of day before the end of last year. But now with the festival circuit beginning anew, Cannes is looking like a possible premiere location.

Before that, Thompson on Hollywood report that they’ve been invited to the first private screening of the film on 9th February, and along with the invitation comes a brilliant first trailer. (And it should be noted that, given the swearing, it’s not entirely suitable for work.)

Oscar Isaac stars as the eponymous young lead, Llewyn Davis, and is joined by an immaculate supporting cast, headed up by Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Justin Timberlake, Garrett Hedlund, and Adam Driver.

Joel and Ethan Coen are of course once more directing from a script they co-wrote, loosely basing the film on the Dave Van Ronk memoir, The Mayor of MacDougal Street.

The plot synopsis is still yet to be officially released, but we do know that Inside Llewyn Davis revolves around the 1960s Greenwich Village folk music scene, with Isaac starring as a folk musician trying to make it in New York.

Inside Llewyn Davis remains without a firm release date in the UK or US, but we’re very glad to hear that this first screening is being held. Hopefully its theatrical release won’t be too far behind it, with a potential appearance at Cannes in between. For now, here’s the brilliant first trailer. And a final reminder: This one’s not suitable for work. Enjoy.
