Daniel Radcliffe has clearly been having a lot of fun of late. Hamming it up in the ridiculous Victor Frankenstein and playing a farting corpse in Swiss Army Man are exactly the moves to make if typecasting is an issue.

And there are few roles as far from the cosy confines of Hogwarts than a Neo-Nazi in a group determined to set off a dirty bomb. This is where we find the actor in the first trailer for his latest film Imperium.

The film is out in August in the US, and is the feature debut of writer/director Daniel Ragussis. Toni Collette stars alongside Radcliffe as his link to the FBI (yes, as the trailer takes pains to point out – this is a dangerous undercover mission for Raddles) and the film also stars Tracy Letts, Nestor Carbonell, the wonderful Burn Gorman and Sam Trammell.

Before you take in the first trailer why not spoil yourself on a synopsis?

Inspired by real events, Nate Foster (Daniel Radcliffe), a young, idealistic FBI agent, goes undercover to take down a radical right-wing terrorist group. The bright up-and-coming analyst must confront the challenge of sticking to a new identity while maintaining his real principles as he navigates the dangerous underworld of white supremacy.

Trailer up friends,

Bit of a departure from Radcliffe’s norm, maybe it had something to do with this…
