Hugh Jackman has been playing Wolverine for 15 years now, and with an expected appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse next year and another solo movie in 2017, he’s showing no signs of slowing down. The most amazing part about the whole thing is that the Chappie star looks just as good now as he did back in 2000!

Is Jackman as immortal as Wolverine himself? Either way, the actor has revealed that he intends to keep playing the character for as long as humanly possible; in fact, he’ll play the X-Man until he dies if he can.

“I said to my wife, ‘The moral is that I should never stop playing Wolverine,” he jokingly revealed in a recent interview after being asked for his thoughts on Oscar favourite Birdman starring former Batman Michael Keaton. “I’ve got to find a way to keep playing him until I die.’ I know that someday they’ll recast the role with another actor…I’d be happy if the role was eventually recast. It would mean that it had become iconic.”

As for mindset he adopts each time he takes on the role of Wolverine on the big screen, he added: “I always want to be in better shape than I was for the last one. I don’t believe in stagnation. People say they try to maintain the status quo. But I believe the natural cycle means you’re either advancing and getting closer to something or you’re receding…Every time I play Wolverine I want to go further, physically and emotionally.”

A return for the Australian actor in X-Men: Apocalypse has not been confirmed as of yet, but the third Wolverine movie – which is set to be released on March 3rd, 2017 – is rumoured to feature a team-up between Logan and Sir Patrick Stewart’s Professor Xavier. James Mangold will return to direct.
