It’s a hot topic. We’re almost halfway through 2016 and we’ve already had four massive comic book films, with many more coming our way over the next few years.

With the recent tepid response to Bryan Singer’s X-Men Apocalypse, and the critical drubbing of Batman v Superman Stefan Pape and Cassam Looch from HeyUGuys TV ask the question – have we become sick of comic book movies?

We’ve examined this question before, namely Cai Ross’s Dawn of indifference: Why Batman v Superman’s Success is Cause for Concern, in which the dividing line between audiences and critics became ever more deep in the sand.

However, with the success of Deadpool, the resurgence of Marvel’s films with Captain America: Civil War, and the slew of new characters entering the crowded arena are we looking forward to a new age of comic book movies?
