The third and final interview from our collection from Great Expectations is with the wonderfully talented Helena Bonham Carter who plays Miss Havisham. This latest adaption of the Charles Dickens classic is directed by Mike Newell who we had an interview with yesterday and can be seen here. Hilary Oliver interviews Helena where they discuss her take on the character, how she’s not as old as some people think she is and how’s she’s completely ‘barking’ mad! They discuss how they did the research into finding out what someone who had light depredation would feel and act like as well as having to act with completely stiff joints! They also talk about working through the David Nicholls and changing that from the original Dickens novel.
