The lines between TV and big budget Hollywood movies continues to blur with every passing year. TV budgets, brilliant scripts and a proven track record have been able to attract Hollywood’a acting elite to shows that 10 years ago wouldn’t have stood a chance.

It’s been 15 years now since Keifer Sutherland appeared in 24 and Steven Spielberg & Tom Hanks made Band of Brothers but these were just two of the shows which marked a shift in the way the tides were changing at cinema. With the rise of Cable TV and more recently streaming services like Netflix, quality actors were able to find a new home to create original shows that wowed audiences. Just look at Kevin Spacey or Robin Wright in House of Cards.

Why the pre-able? Because it sets up perfectly the brand new trailer for Big Little Lies, the new HBO show which is also coming to Sky Atlantic in 2017.

All seven episodes of Big Little Lies come from Wild & Dallas Buyers Club director Jean-Marc Vallee and have been penned by screenwriter David E. Kelley whose credits include TV shows Ally McBeal and Boston Legal among many others. He also write Lake Placid which fills us with hope!

The show is based on the novel by Liane Moriarty and tells the story of a group of first grade mothers who seemingly have anger issues….. so much so that their seemingly perfect lies end up in murder.

HBO have assembled a stonking cast which includes Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Alexander Skarsgard, Laura Dern, Adam Scott, Zoe Kravitz, James Tupper and Jeffrey Nordling which just goes to show how those lines I mentioned when it comes to film vs. TV are bluring constantly.

Big Little Lies launches in the US February 19th and will be landing on Sky Atlantic in the UK (stand by for the date!).
