Love them or hate them, the Transformers movies are going nowhere. With the fourth instalment once again grossing over $1 billion worldwide (despite yet another wave of negative reviews from critics), Paramount recently put together a writers room to lay the groundwork for future instalments in the franchise and an undisclosed number of spinoffs.

As of right now, the only ones we know are officially in the works are Transformers 5 – which it’s thought will see Michael Bay return to reteam with Mark Wahlberg – and an animated movie which is apparently going to be set on the Transformers’ home planet of Cybertron.

Well, during a Q&A at MIPJunior 2015, Stephen J. Davis, President of Hasbro Studios and Entertainment and Licensing for Hasbro, made it clear that they have big plans for the series.

“In fact, we just finished — as some of you may have read — an incredible experience,” he said. “We decided we wanted to plot out the next 10 years of the ‘Transformers’ franchise, so we got together in a 3 month period of time… nine of some of the most creative writers I have ever worked with — shepherded by Akiva Goldsman, who many of you may know won an Academy Award for ‘A Beautiful Mind,’ and has written a bunch of great movies. And plotted out the next ten years of ‘Transformers.’ Similarly we are doing the same in television and digital. So stay tuned ‘Transformers 5’ is on its way… And 6 and 7 and 8.”

So, there you have it. The next decade is likely to be completely dominated by Transformers.
