Arrow has been making a lot of interesting casting additions lately, but those all pale in comparison to the news that Harry Potter star Tom Felton has joined The Flash in a recurring role. The actor, who played the villainous Draco Malfoy across the course of all eight movies, is set to star as Julian Dorn, a character who doesn’t actually originate from the comics.

According to the brief description, he’ll be a fellow CSI at the Central City Police Department who suspects that there’s more to Barry Allen than his good guy reputation is letting on.

There’s every chance The CW is covering up the character’s true identity, but regardless of whether he hails from the source material or is an original creation, there’s no denying that this is an impressive bit of casting by team behind The Flash. Since the conclusion of the Potter franchise, Felton has starred in Rise of the Planet of the Apes and shows like Murder in the First, Full Circle, and Labyrinth. This DC Comics adaptation is perhaps his biggest gig yet.

The Flash is set to return on October 4th, and the premiere is titled “Flashpoint.” That’s a nod to a very famous comic book storyline which took place in an alternate reality created after Barry travelled back in time to save his mother’s life. Just how much the episode will borrow from that remains to be seen, but it will certainly shake things up in a major way!
