The Star Wars universe is in a fine state at the moment. The huge $billion+ box office haul for Gareth Edwards’ initial Star Wars anthology film Rogue One is a huge win for LucasFilm, and paves a smoother path for the non-Skywalker saga films to come. The next film to go before the cameras is the young Han Solo spin off movie,  directed by LEGO movie mavericks Chris Miller and Phil Lord, and written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan.

The first image from the set was tweeted today with Chris Miller revealing the working title for the film – Red Cup. The tweeted picture was accompanied by three choice words – “Han, First, Shot” which is not only factually correct but plays to the crowd in a very knowing way. This is a further distancing of George Lucas’ 1997 Special Edition (and subsequent releases) tampering of the original films. Fans have long hated this particular addition, claiming it diluted Han’s roguish character. With this tweet fans know exactly which side of Han Solo we’ll see in the new film.

Alden Ehrenreich was revealed to be playing the young Han Solo at the 2016 Star Wars Celebration event.

The events of this new movie will take place a decade before A New Hope and will look at the origins of Han and Chewbacca, with a place for Lando Calrissian (played, in a piece of casting genius, by Donald Glover), a mentor role for Woody Harrelson, and an unknown role for Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke.

Secrecy will play a huge part in the production of the new Star Wars spin off film, with Donald Glover claiming to still not have read the script despite filming in the next few weeks. With the recent reveal of the title for Episode VIII as The Last Jedi we’re likely to see a teaser trailer for that film next. It may well be a whole year until we see anything official from the Han Solo film, but this tweet has us excited already.
