Andrew Garfield leads Mel Gibson’s brutal WWII movie Hacksaw Ridge as the real life American Army Medic Desmond T. Doss. Becoming the first Conscientious Objector in American history to be awarded the Medal of Honor, the story of a pacifist in one of the bloodiest battles in the Second War World gives Gibson a solid foundation on which to build a moving tale.

We saw the film in Venice, you can read our review here.  Appearing alongside Garfield we have Teresa Palmer, Hugo Weaving and Drill Sergeant Vince Vaughn.

Here’s a synopsis, before you go over the top with two new clips which were released today and which show off the two sides, both loaded with conflict, of the war.

Hacksaw Ridge is the extraordinary true story of conscientious collaborator Desmond Doss (Garfield) who, in Okinawa during the bloodiest battle of WWII, saved 75 men without firing or carrying a gun.
