Marvel has released the third (and presumably final) trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and this might just be the best one yet! Featuring a tonne of Baby Groot – which is obviously no bad thing – this latest sneak peek is packed full of fresh footage from the highly anticipated release, though it’s in the closing seconds we get the biggest reveal.
That is a first proper look at Kurt Russell as Ego the Living Planet. We’ve known for a while that he’s Star-Lord’s father, though that comes as a shock to Peter Quill! Interestingly, it appears as if Mantis may be aligned with Ego before joining the Guardians, though it’s hard to say for sure as we only catch a fleeting glimpse of the movie’s apparent protagonist.
Aside from meeting Star-Lord’s father, this trailer doesn’t offer up a huge amount of story details, though it does now seem clear that the golden skinned Ayesha will be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’s lead villain. She appears to be dead set on wiping out those who feel emotions, hence why the team needs help from the Yondu and former villain Nebula.
