With less than a week to go until this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel has released a brand new piece of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 which reveals a unique new line-up.

As you can see, returning favourites Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot are all present, but they’ve now been joined by Youndu, Nebula, and newomer Mantis.

Played by Pom Klementieff, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 executive producer Jonathan Schwartz said this about how she factors into the sequel. “She has never really experienced social interaction,. Everything she learns about dealing with people, she learns from the Guardians of the Galaxy, which is a very weird group to learn your social intricacies from.”

Aside from the fact that some of the team are sporting some very cool jetpacks, one of the biggest changes is of course the fact that Groot is still tiny. “He doesn’t have the wisdom and experience of that Groot,” Schwartz says of how this version will differ to the last one. “He’s a younger Groot and a more rambunctious Groot. The question is, is he the same Groot, just smaller? Or is he a different Groot that’s sprung up from the seed of the first Groot?”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to be released next May, and with director James Gunn and the cast confirmed for Comic-Con, expect more details to be revealed next weekend.
