We heard last month that director Sam Mendes and the producers of James Bond 24 were looking for an “iconic” henchman in the mold of such classic baddies as Jaws and Oddjob. A character description for “Hinx” started doing the rounds, and it sounds as if Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista has landed the role!

Looking back at the casting breakdown, the WWE Superstar turned show stealing Marvel superhero fits the role perfectly as it asked for a make between 30 – 45 ideally over 6’0″, and an “imposing extremely physically fit actor. He has several fights with Bond and will have to have stunt training. He has to drive. We are looking for someone very unusual, possibly from a sports background.” That sounds about right for Drax!

Drax the Destroyer is of course the character that Bautista played in the James Gunn helmed Marvel Studios movie, and both fans and critics alike were shocked at how good he ultimately ended up being in the role.

According to this report, the former wrestler (he made a return to the WWE a little earlier this year but left to promote Guardians of the Galaxy and hasn’t been seen since) has signed up to play Hinx in the next Bond movie, meaning that Daniel Craig’s 007 will have a very tough henchman to take down in the Skyfall sequel!

Shooting on Bond 24 begins later this year, and Bautista joins a cast which includes Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, and Blue is the Warmest Colour star Léa Seydoux as the new Bond girl.
