Guardians of the Galaxy put Dave Bautista on the map. Since leaving the WWE, he only had a few minor acting credits, none of which had the same impact as starring in the Marvel Studios movie. His performance in that blew everyone away, and his version of Drax the Destroyer proved that (some) wrestlers CAN act!

Since then, he’s lined up a henchman role in the next James Bond movie – you can see the first official image and featurette for Spectre by clicking here – and also has Guardians of the Galaxy 2 on the way.

According to a new report, Bautista has lined up his next major role in Summit Entertainment’s upcoming Highlander reboot. He’s being eyed to play The Kurgan, the deadly barbarian that immortal Scottish swordsman Connor MacLeod must defeat to become the last remaining immortal man on Earth.

In the original Highlander, Clancy Brown played the villain. The movie’s director Cedric Nicolas Troyan was at one time quoted as saying the following about filling this iconic role. “We have to find that younger emerging guy, and surround him with a strong Kurgan, and an actor who shines as Ramirez the way Connery did in that film film.” Ryan Reynolds was attached at one time, but it has no leading man as of right now.

Bautista is still under contract with the WWE after a brief run with them last year, but he clearly won’t be returning any time soon thanks to all of these acting commitments. Are you looking forward to Highlander?
