Grace-of-Monaco-to-open-2014-Cannes-Film-FestivalOriginally due to be released late last year, in awards contention, Olivier Dahan’s Grace of Monaco is finally going to have its debut at one of the biggest platforms of the year, making its bow at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.

Screening Out of Competition, the biographical drama stars Nicole Kidman as the eponymous Grace Kelly, Princess of Monaco, opposite Tim Roth as Prince Rainier III.

Warner Bros. launched a beautiful first teaser trailer back in September, assuring us that something rather stunning is coming our way soon.

The story of former Hollywood star Grace Kelly’s crisis of marriage and identity, during a political dispute between Monaco’s Prince Rainier III and France’s Charles De Gaulle, and a looming French invasion of Monaco in the early 1960s.

The leading duo are joined by a great cast, headed up by Frank Langella, Parker Posey, Milo Ventimiglia, Derek Jacobi, Paz Vega, and Robert Lindsay.

Dahan, the BAFTA-nominated director who helmed La Vie en Rose, directs from a script written by Arash Amel (Erased / The Expatriate).

Grace of Monaco will be making its debut at Cannes on May 14th, and is set to be released in France and a handful of cities around the world on the same day, with the opening ceremony broadcast in participating cinemas, with the cooperation of Canal+. No word yet on a UK or US release date, with The Weinstein Company releasing the film stateside.
