Town and country come together in the first, deceptively simple movie poster for Fox Searchlight’s biopic of Winnie the Pooh author A. A. Milne – Goodbye, Christopher Robin. The poster has Domhnall Gleeson as Milne walking with his young son (the titular young Master Robin – as played by Will Tilston and Alex Lawther) on a path drawn between the Milnes’ East Sussex homestead Cotchford Farm and London. Both sides of the divide are drawn in the style of Winnie the Pooh illustrator E. H. Shepard, which is a very nice touch.

Joining Gleeson, Tilston and Lawther are Margot Robbie and Kelly MacDonald, the film was written by Frank Cottrell Boyce and Simon Vaughan and has a detailed synopsis, thus:

Goodbye Christopher Robin gives a rare glimpse into the relationship between beloved children’s author A. A. Milne (Domhnall Gleeson) and his son Christopher Robin, whose toys inspired the magical world of Winnie the Pooh.

Along with his mother Daphne (Margot Robbie), and his nanny Olive (Kelly Macdonald), Christopher Robin and his family are swept up in the international success of the books; the enchanting tales bringing hope and comfort to England after the First World War.

But with the eyes of the world on Christopher Robin, what will the cost be to the family?

WILL IT? No long now until we find out…

Here is the first poster, which is pretty lovely.
