Paramount are opening the book page by page on their live action adaptation of Masamune Shirow‘s Ghost in the Shell manga, coming our way in March 2017 from Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.
Starring Scarlett Johansson, Michael Pitt and Juliette Binoche the story looks to follow the manga, launched in late 80s, telling the story of ‘Section 9’s investigation of the Puppet Master’. That is to say, Johansson is the Major, a hybrid human-machine special ops soldier whose team leads the fight against various ne’er-do-wells for control of the future of cybernetic technology.
