Many of Game of Thrones’ cast members are finding success away from the popular HBO series, and Sophie Turner (who plays Sansa Stark) is set to star as Frankenstein author Mary Shelley in Mary Shelley’s Monster.

Other cast members have also been confirmed; Jeremy Irvine (War Horse) will  play her husband Percy Shelley, while Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story) will play Mary’s stepsister, Claire Clairmont.

Mary Shelley’s Monster is described by producer Rose Ganguzza as, “the story of the most extraordinary 19th century teenage heroine told in a visceral, sexy, contemporary way.” She added, “Our film is not a period drama. It is a story of youth that transcends time, a gothic romance, a love triangle that involves a dark passenger and we are tremendously excited to have such an exciting cast onboard this wonderful project.”

Monster will follow Mary Shelley during the period in which she wrote the now iconic novel and explores how the author found herself drawn into a, “Faustian bargain with her own ‘monster’ of an alter ego” as she struggles to find literary success in the then male dominated profession.

Deborah Baxtrom (Living with Frankenstein) penned Mary Shelley’s Monster and the movie will be directed by Coky Giedroyc (Penny Dreadful, The Killing), who makes his feature debut here.
