While we, and the rest of the eager fans, wait for George R. R. Martin’s new book in the Song of Ice and Fire series, HBO are wasting no time preparing for The Winds of Winter to blow. Season six of the show ventured far into uncharted territory, going beyond the released books for the first time, and was a huge success.

With the seismic events of the last season still fresh in our minds (and after a far longer wait than usual) HBO have started doling out the promotion for the forthcoming season seven. No, it’s not another ice-melting challenge. It is, in fact, a rather nice new trailer for season seven featuring Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen and (newly crowned) Queen Cersei Lannister taking the long walk to their respective thrones. The game is, finally, on…

She’ll be back…

Thankfully Lyanna Mormont (shown above looking just perfect) will return, as will the surviving ranks of beloved characters. With the various contingents of good and evil massing below The Wall hopefully we’ll see the beginnings of the battle that really matters. Though we doubt anyone is on #TeamWhiteWalker…

Here’s the new trailer, and below that we have a reminder of the (spoilerish – hence the placement in the article) scoop we picked up earlier last month from Sophie Turner herself.

Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres exclusively on 17th July on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV at 2am, repeated at 9pm on the same day.

Game of Thrones Season 7 Trailer

Ready…

We spoke to Sophie Turner at the BAFTAs last month and she let hinted that Sansa Stark would not be for the chop when the show returns.

“We’re about to start shooting the next X-Men, we’ve just finished shooting Season 7 of [Game of] Thrones, and I’ve got a couple of movies to do before X-Men starts. And then we go on to Season 8.”
