G.I.-Joe-Retaliation-IMAX-PosterParamount are finally on the cusp of releasing G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and after pushing the film back for almost a year, we’re looking forward to seeing if it was worth the wait. I have a feeling it will be.

Everything we’ve seen from the film so far suggests it’s going to be packed full of awesome action. And one need only look so far as the latest trailer to get an idea of just how much of an action ride this is going to be.

With the film hitting theatres, both regular and IMAX, at the end of the month, a new IMAX poster has debuted over on Facebook. IMAX don’t mention that this will be one of their free posters given out at midnight screenings, but keep your fingers crossed that it, or something similar, will be.

A follow-up to the 2009 release of G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA, which grossed over $300M worldwide, Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with HASBRO and di Bonaventura Pictures, commences production on G.I. JOE: RETALIATION. In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.

Channing Tatum, Ray Park, and Lee Byung-hun reprise their roles from the first film, with Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis, Adrianne Palicki, Elodie Yung, Ray Stevenson, RZA, D.J. Cotrona, Walton Goggins, and Jonathan Pryce completing the cast nicely.

Chu has taken the helm for the sequel, directing from a script penned by the brilliant Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland).

G.I. Joe: Retaliation will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 27th March in the UK, and will land a day later in the US on 28th March. For now, here’s the latest poster for the action blockbuster, which you can click through to enlarge.

Since graduating, I spend as much time as possible watching films/TV shows, reading books, and listening to music. So getting to write about what I love is nothing short of awesome. Biggest film-related hope for 2014/ever: Guy Ritchie announcing the RocknRolla sequel is finally moving forward.
