Following on from the first look images they released last week. Bankside Films have released this first trailer for one of the movies showing at the Toronto International Film Festival. It’s called Trishna which stars British movie stars, Freida Pinto and Riz Ahmed & is directed by Michael Winterbottom ( The Killer Inside Me).
Self-effacing British auteur Michael Winterbottom sets his unique spin on Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the D’Urbervilles against a contemporary Indian backdrop. Freida Pinto stars as the titular Trishna, a young woman who is seduced by the wealthy son of a property developer. As the romance develops, their relationship also becomes increasingly sordid and volatile.
The trailer looks beautifully shot but other than the love story, doesn’t really tell us much more but I guess that’s the aim of a teaser trailer! We don’t know when this movie will hit the UK but as always, we’ll keep you posted. The film will debut at TIFF 09/09/11.
