This evening the capital played host to the UK premiere of Stephen Frears’ Florence Foster Jenkins, a film about the cateurwauling socialite who graced the early twentieth century with a commendable aspiration to sing and a limited ability with which to do so.

The film, ambiguously titled Florence Foster Jenkins, stars Meryl Streep as the titular songstress with , Rebecca Ferguson, Hugh Grant, Nina Arianda and Simon Helberg.

Florence Foster Jenkins is directed by Stephen Frears (Philomena, The Queen) and hits UK cinemas 6th May.
