Silver Linings Playbook UK Quad PosterSilver Linings Playbook sees David O. Russell (The Fighter) return behind the camera for what promises to be another strong awards contender this year. The film took home the Audience Award for Best Film at TIFF, and was a brilliant selection as the Surprise Film this month at the BFI London Film Festival.

Led by Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, we saw the latest trailer for the film surface last month, and now The Weinstein Company have released the first TV spot ahead of its release in a few weeks’ time.

“Pat Solatano has lost everything — his house, his job, and his wife. He now finds himself living back with his mother and father after spending eight months is a state institution on a plea bargain. Pat is determined to rebuild his life, remain positive and reunite with his wife, despite the challenging circumstances of their separation. All Pat’s parents want is for him to get back on his feet – and to share their family’s obsession with the Philadelphia Eagles football team. When Pat meets Tiffany, a mysterious girl with problems of her own, things get complicated. Tiffany offers to help Pat reconnect with his wife, but only if he’ll do something very important for her in return. As their deal plays out, an unexpected bond begins to form between them, and silver linings appear in both of their lives.”

Cooper and Lawrence star alongside an excellent cast, joined by Robert De Niro, Jacki Weaver, Chris Tucker, Julia Stiles, Shea Whigham, and Anupam Kher.

Russell is directing from his own script, having adapted the original novel, The Silver Linings Playbook, by Matthew Quick.

Silver Linings Playbook will be arriving in the UK and US on 21st November, in prime position for the coming awards season, having entered the race a strong contender in the past two months. I saw and absolutely loved the film at LFF, and can’t recommend enough how much you should go and see it when it lands in theatres in a few weeks.
