In The Intern, Robert De Niro (American Hustle) stars as Ben Whittaker, a 70-year-old widower who has discovered that retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Seizing an opportunity to get back in the game, he becomes a senior intern at an online fashion site, founded and run by Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway, Les Miserables). The comedy was directed and written by Nancy Meyers (Something’s Gotta Give).
Meyers is also producing alongside Scott Rudin and Suzanne Farwell. As impressive as the leads are, they’re surrounded by a cracking group which includes Rene Russo (Thor), Andrew Rannells (Girls), Adam DeVine (Pitch Perfect), Nat Wolff (The Fault in Our Stars), Anders Holm (Workaholics), Linda Lavin (Wanderlust), Zack Pearlman (“The Inbetweeners), Reid Scott (Veep), newcomer Jason Orley, and Christina Scherer.
The movie looks like a lot of fun, and De Niro and Hathaway appear to have a great deal of chemistry.
