Bandito Brothers, the production company behind Act of Valor, are back next year with an entirely different project, The Prototype, that’s more in the vein of District 9 – a film with a modest m. budget that went on to take north of 0m. across the globe, and became an instant cult phenomenon.

The first teaser trailer has been leaked online, by its writer/director Andrew Will, with Deadline reporting that it was initially to be sold after the 4th July holiday in the States.

This first look at the film is utterly immense, and you can definitely imagine that distributors will be wanting this in their armoury for release in 2013.

The film has an under m. budget, and if it gets the right release, you can imagine that the success District 9 found could well follow for it.

Will, who’s worked as a production assistant on Star Trek and the Nic Cage-starrer Next, has been flying a little bit under the radar with it, and it isn’t even listed on IMDb yet.

Joseph Mawle (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), Neal McDonough (Captain America: The First Avenger), and Anna Anissimova (The Whistleblower) all star. It looks like McDonough will be just left of centre here, which sounds excellent to me; we don’t get to see enough of him on the big screen.

As yet, no word on when we can expect it, but if all goes well sales-wise in the coming weeks, keep your fingers crossed for it being a summer 2013 blockbuster. It should be epic.
