With Disney’s focus very much on Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Captain America: Civil War up until this point, it would be easy to forget that they have another huge movie on the way late next year in the form of the Scott Derrickson helmed Doctor Strange.

Now, Entertainment Weekly has unveiled the first official image of Benedict Cumberbatch suited up as the Sorcerer Supreme, and it’s a photo which should make comic book fans very happy as it looks like the character has been torn straight from the source material!

Of course, playing a character like Doctor Strange brings with it some unique challenges, including perfecting the poses the hero performs while casting his various enchantments.

“I’m still in the infancy of learning all that,” Cumberbatch tells EW. “It was like, okay, I’ve got to keep throwing these poses, these spells, these rune-casting things, everything he does physically. I’m thinking, there’s going to be a huge amount of speculation and intrigue over the positioning of that finger as opposed to it being there, or there. And I’m still working on that. We haven’t played any of those scenes yet. I felt really self-conscious. But, then, by the end, it was great. It’s like anything, you just have to experiment.”

The magazine promises to reveal even more details this week, so stay tuned for updates!
