July is going to be such a good month this year. Not only do we get the final instalment of the Nolan brothers’ Batman trilogy towards the end on the 20th July (if you missed it, you can watch the new trailer here), we also kick the month off in blockbuster style with Marc Webb’s highly anticipated The Amazing Spider-Man. What more could you ask for?
With a new trailer expected to hit the Internet later today, Apple have debuted four awesome new images from the film, including the first two official shots of the Lizard outside of his white lab coat.
Andrew Garfield stars as the eponymous superhero, with the lovely Emma Stone as the female lead, Gwen Stacy, supported by a great cast that includes Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Rhys Ifans (as The Lizard below), Denis Leary, C. Thomas Howell, and Stan Lee’s usual cameo.
“The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.”
Everything we’ve seen from the film so far – all of which you can catch up on here – has been absolutely fantastic, and the expectations are definitely high for this being one of the biggest and best films of the year. Webb looks like he’s done a fantastic job, and we’ll be getting even more proof of that later today when the new trailer hits.
The Amazing Spider-Man will be out in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on 4th July, so make sure you make a note of that date in your mental film calendar. It’s going to be awesome. Here are the great new images to whet your appetite, which you can click to enlarge.
