This year has already seen the release of one Hercules film, and after that bombed, fans of the mythological character are now hoping that director Brett Ratner and star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be able to do him justice in their take on the character which is set to be released later this summer.

Talking to USA Today, Johnson acknowledged the fact that The Legend of Hercules, which starred Twilight’s Kellan Lutz in the title role, may have caused some initial “confusion,” but is now confident that moviegoers will accept his “passion-driven” project which is based on the graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars, and picks up with Hercules after he has endured his 12 Labours.

As a result, this movie promises to deliver a far more serious take on Hercules, with Johnson adding: “Green screen and effects can be fantastic. But when you have real men, real sweat and even real blood, it’s very gratifying. You feel the substance.” The first trailer will be release for Hercules this week!
