It wasn’t that long ago that Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf) was cast as the Man of Steel for Supergirl’s upcoming second season, and The CW has today released a first look at the actor suited up alongside Melissa Benoist. The costume looks pretty great, though Hoechlin – who is clearly no slob – still looks quite a bit smaller than Henry Cavill’s hugely buff Superman!

The actor will first appear as the hero in the season two premiere of Supergirl, and while he’s currently booked for just the first couple of episodes, chances are that the character will become a recurring presence in the series moving forward assuming fans take to him.

This version of the Superman costume was designed by Supergirl costume designer Kiersten Ronning (which makes sense), and looking at the source material, this suit bears a resemblance to the one from the Injustice: Gods Among Us video game and comic book.

We’ll no doubt see much more of Hoechlin’s Superman in the coming weeks and months. With Supergirl making the leap from CBS to The CW, fans are looking forward to her meeting up with heroes like Green Arrow, The Flash, and the Legends of Tomorrow, and with any luck, she’ll be bringing her slightly more famous cousin with her when she does. We’ll see…
