It was revealed earlier this year that Tom Hardy has been cast in Legend, the upcoming Kray Twins movie from writer and director Brian Helgeland (Payback, 42). Now, with filming underway, the first official image of The Dark Knight Rises and Inception star as both Ronald and Reginald Kray has been released.
The well-known gangsters caused chaos during the 50s and 60s, and it should be fascinating to see how Tom Hardy differentiates both of the twin brothers from each other through his dual performance. It’s also clear just from the image above that they’ll be portrayed very differently.
Will Tom Hardy finally gain some major awards recognition? We’ll have to wait and see!
One of the last major movies to focus on the Kray Twins starred Gary and Martin Kemp from Spandau Balle, but having just the one actor play them should bring something very different to this particular project. A release date hasn’t been confirmed as of yet, but Legend is expected in cinemas sometime next year.
The rest of the Working Title/Studio Canal production’s cast hasn’t even been revealed yet, so plot details are also scarce as of right now. The photo above may have only actually been released because of some set photos which recently found their way online of Tom Hardy shooting scenes for the movie!
