WARNING: SPOILERS FOR SEASON 3 OF ARROW FOLLOW!
In the season three premiere of Arrow, The Canary returned and was killed off by an unknown party in one of the DC Comics adaptation’s most shocking moments to date. Comic book fans know that her sister Laurel Lance eventually becomes Black Canary in the comic books, and we now have a first look at her suited up!
Katie Cassidy will appear as the costumed hero for the first time in the tenth episode, and the release of these images come after a photo of her stunt double in the suit started doing the rounds this weekend.
Like The Arrow, Arsenal, Deathstroke, The Flash, and a number of other comic book characters who have appeared on The CW over the past few years, Black Canary looks great and this is a great live-action update of the source material. There’s still some time to go before the tenth episode of Arrow airs, so Laurel’s journey to becoming a crimefighter will continue for quite some time before we meet Black Canary!
In related DC Comics TV news, Luc Roderique has been cast in Arrow spinoff The Flash as Jason Rusch, a graduate student at Hudson University who was part of Martin Stein’s research team on the F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M. project. In the comics, Jason takes over the Firestorm matrix after Ronnie Raymond’s death.
