AustenlandAustenland was amongst the first films announced in the line-up for Sundance next month, joining a very impressive roster of films, which is a good indication of how good this ought to be.

Jerusha Hess makes her feature debut behind the camera, and is returning to the festival following the brilliant success of Napoleon Dynamite back in 2004, which she co-wrote.

Keri Russell takes the lead in this romantic comedy, and with just over a month before it arrives on the festival circuit, EW have debuted the first image from the film.

Thirtysomething, single Jane is obsessed with Mr. Darcy, as played by Colin Firth in Pride and Prejudice. On a trip to an English resort, her fantasies of meeting the perfect Regency-era gentleman become more real than she ever imagined.

Russell stars alongside an excellent cast, headed up by JJ Feild, Bret McKenzie, Jane Seymour, Jennifer Coolidge, Georgia King, James Callis, and Ricky Whittle.

Hess is directing from a script she co-wrote with Shannon Hale, based on Hale’s original novel of the same name.

Austenland will be heading to Sundance Film Festival in January for its world premiere, and here’s to hoping that it will be a smooth road to the big screen following its festival debut. For now, here’s our first look at the film with the first image, which you can click through to enlarge.
