Two more have been added to the cast of Kong: Skull Island today, with Deadline and Variety reporting that John Goodman (The Artist) and Thomas Mann (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) are the latest additions to the movie which is being directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts from a script by John Gatins and Max Borenstein. They join an impressive cast which already includes Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, and John C. Reilly.

Goodman is playing Randa, a government official who leads an expedition. Mann meanwhile is part of the team that journeys Skull Island (possibly meaning that Randa is his boss).

The first plot details have also been revealed today, with Deadline revealing a brief plot synopsis of sorts, which states that, “Kong: Skull Island is the story is about a man (Hiddleston) who travels to the mythical island and home of the king of the apes. A team of explorers ventures inside what they find to be a treacherous island.” The trade goes on to add that, “The story is said to honor the King Kong lore but in a different time period.”

If rumours are to be believed, that time period will most likely end up being the 1980s.

After Kong: Skull Island is released, the plan is for Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla sequel and crossover which will pit the iconic monsters against each other to follow it. How they’re going to address the size difference remains to be seen, but more details can be found here.
