With its release coming in just over a week, we’re looking at the final stretch of General Aladeen’s shenanigans before The Dictator hits the big screen next week.

We’ve seen some brilliant things over the past few months – both footage from the film and Sacha Baron Cohen’s promotion of it in real life – and I’m already convinced that this will be some of his best and funniest work yet. A final new red-band trailer has now surfaced online, along with a clip of Aladeen taking Martin Scorsese hostage on NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

Co-starring Anna Faris, Jason Mantzoukas, Sir Ben Kingsley, John C. Reilly, Megan Fox, and J.B. Smoove, The Dictator tells,

“The heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.”

Larry Charles (Borat, Brüno) returns to direct Baron Cohen in the titular role, with a script co-written by Baron Cohen himself and Alec Berg, David Mandel, and Jeff Schaffer, all three being former Seinfeld and current Curb Your Enthusiasm writers – this is pretty much a sure thing.

The Dictator will be released on 16th May both in the UK and US, so set your schedule aside next Wednesday and have a great night at the cinema.
