Justin Lin’s Fast and Furious 6 became the highest-grossing opening weekend for Universal here in the UK last weekend, and now it’s just one day away from landing in US cinemas, where it’s naturally expected to open to big numbers.
With the film already in cinemas on our shores, a great new 60-second UK TV spot has been released, teasing some of the brilliant action you can expect from what promises to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the year.
Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian’s (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin’s empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete.
Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again.
Vin Diesel and Paul Walker return to take the lead for the sixth instalment. And they’re joined by another awesome cast, led by Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Dwayne Johnson, Luke Evans, Joe Taslim, Tyrese Gibson, Gina Carano, Gal Gadot, Elsa Pataky, and the brilliant Sung Kang.
Lin is behind the camera once more, directing from a script penned by Chris Morgan, who’s written all the films Lin’s directed in the series.
The studio have already announced that Fast and Furious 7 will be hitting the multiplex next summer, so be sure to stay through the credits!
Fast and Furious 6 is now playing in UK cinemas, and will be released in the US tomorrow, May 24th.
