Universal have been doing a brilliant job of promoting Justin Lin’s Fast and Furious 6 in recent months, launching the blockbuster with a Super Bowl TV spot that really just exploded the anticipation for the movie’s arrival in a few weeks’ time.
Since then, we’ve seen nothing but good things from the franchise’s latest instalment, with the latest featurette taking us behind the scenes for some of the film’s awesome action. And with its release date fast approaching on both sides of the Atlantic, the studio have debuted the final trailer, along with a new hi-res image of Vin Diesel in the lead, doing what he does best.
Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian’s (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin’s empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete.
Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again.
Paul Walker stars opposite Diesel in the lead once more. And they’re joined by another awesome ensemble, led by Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Dwayne Johnson, Luke Evans, Joe Taslim, Tyrese Gibson, Gina Carano, Gal Gadot, Elsa Pataky, and the brilliant Sung Kang.
Lin is behind the camera once more, directing from a script penned by Chris Morgan, who’s written all the films Lin’s directed in the series.
Fast and Furious 6 will be hitting UK theatres on 17th May, with its US release date set for the following week on May 24th. This is going to be just immense.
