As you’ve no doubt already heard, there’s been some talk lately of a real life feud between Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel on the set of Fast 8. Based on various reports, it all stems from the latter’s habit of turning up late on set, something which didn’t sit well with the wrestler turned actor. Throw in the fact that Johnson poked fun at Diesel in an episode of HBO series Ballers, and it appears as if things recently reached a head between them.

That also included an Instagram post which saw Johnson referring to an unprofessional “candy ass” and “chicken shit” co-star, something which led to the studio being forced to step in on the set of Fast 8 to smooth things out between the two larger than life personalities. However, could the whole thing have just been a publicity stunt?

It felt like that was a possibility from the very start, but according to a new report, the whole thing is basically being done to set up a confrontation of some sort – and perhaps an actual wrestling match – at next year’s WrestleMania 33 in Orlando. The annual event actually coincides with the release of Fast 8 in April, so this would actually be a really smart move.

It was at last year’s SummerSlam that Arrow star Stephen Amell impressed wrestling fans by taking part in a match, so there’s really nothing to say that The Rock taking on Vin Diesel at WrestleMania is outside the realm of possibility. It would be a fun bit of promotion, that’s for sure, and both the WWE and Fast 8 would win in a big way from this sort of publicity.
