Anyone familiar with the work of Danish director Thomas Vinterberg will know that domestic turbulence is a specialty of the man. Love in all the wrong places, and the struggle of one person against the crowd are themes which have cropped up often in his career.

That Vinterberg is turning to the trials of Bathsheba Everdene (Carey Mulligan) in Thomas Hardy’s Far from the Madding Crowd is clearly a fine move, and with a supporting cast including Matthias Schoenaerts, Michael Sheen and Juno Temple there will be much to enjoy here.

This evening London was treated to a Gala screening of the film and our own madding crowd of Cassam Looch and Colin Hart were there to greet them.

Interviews ahoy alongside photos taken by the brilliant Colin Hart which you can click to enlarge.
