Dredd PosterPete Travis’ upcoming Dredd reboot is promising to be immense.

Due out in September, the film stars Karl Urban as Judge Dredd, with a supporting cast headed up by the excellent Olivia Thirlby, Lena Headey as the antagonist, Jason Cope, and Domhnall Gleeson.

We caught the first poster and banner earlier this month, and now a ten-second preview of the trailer has gone online, and it looks pretty damn awesome.

“DREDD takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot – if necessary. The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and the frenetic vision of director Peter Travis bring DREDD to life as a futuristic neo-noir action film that returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral incarnation from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra’s revered comic strip.”

Pete Travis (Vantage Point) is behind the camera, directing from a script by Alex Garland (28 Days Later), adapting the original 2000 AD character for the big screen, entirely separate to the 1995 film version with Stallone.

The full trailer is expected tomorrow, ahead of Comic-Con next month, so be sure to check back in for that when it hits – judging by this early sneak-peek, it should be awesome.

Dredd will be released in the UK on 7th September this year, before heading across the Atlantic a little later for a 21st September release. Here’s the small preview to get the anticipation rising.
