Dan Fogelman’s work is well known, with Crazy, Stupid, Love and Tangled as well as the two Cars films for Pixar to his credit. His directorial debut is Danny Collins, starring Al Pacino, Annette Bening and Christopher Plummer, which had its UK Premiere this evening.
Based on a true story Danny Collins is a rock star past his prime, unable to shake the destructive lifestyle, until a letter written to him forty years earlier from John Lennon forces him to change his ways.
It’s quite a cast for Fogelman’s first film, and it’ll be very interesting to see how the film plays out, with Pacino certain to be a commanding presence around which to build his story of redemption and rehabilitation.
