Epic Poster 220x150 4 New Character Spots for Blue Sky Studios’ Epic with Amanda Seyfried & Josh HutchersonAfter almost a decade away from the director’s chair, Chris Wedge finally returns to the big screen next month with the anticipated animated blockbuster, Epic.

We’ve seen nothing but good things so far from the film, which is the latest animated adventure from Blue Sky Studios (Ice Age, Rio). And it’s definitely one I’m looking forward to seeing next month.

With its release just under a month away now, we’ve got four new character spots to share, giving us a look at the characters of Amanda Seyfried, Josh Hutcherson, Pitbull, and Steven Tyler.

EPIC is a 3D CG action-adventure comedy that reveals a hidden world unlike any other. From the creators of ICE AGE and RIO, EPIC tells the story of an ongoing battle deep in the forest between the forces of good who keep the natural world alive and the forces of evil who wish to destroy it. When a teen age girl finds herself magically transported into this secret universe, she must band together with a rag-tag team of fun and whimsical characters in order to save their world… and ours.

The voice cast is as brilliant as you’d expect, led by Amanda Seyfried, Colin Farrell, Christoph Waltz, Aziz Ansari, Josh Hutcherson, Jason Sudeikis, Pitbull, Steven Tyler, Blake Anderson, Judah Friedlander, and Beyoncé Knowles.

And Wedge (Ice Age, Robots) is directing from a script penned by Tom J. Astle and Matt Ember (Get Smart) and Daniel Shere.

Epic will be released in 3D on 22nd May here in the UK, with its US release date following two days later on May 24th. Here’s to hoping the studio have another hugely successful animated hit on their hands. It looks like it could be a strong contender for Best Animated Feature come Oscar season.
