Hayley Atwell will reprise the role of Peggy Carter on the small screen in early 2015, and Marvel have announced two additions to the cast of the eight part Agent Carter TV series. It will air when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. takes a hiatus and is set before the events of the Marvel One-Shot which was included on the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray.

Chad Michael Murray (Fruitvale Station) has been cast in the role of SSR Agent Jack Thompson, while Enver Gjokaj (Dollhouse) will portray Agent Daniel Sousa, both of whom will meet Carter while she takes on a new role at the SSR in New York City. Both are newly created characters, so we can’t turn to the comic books for details!

Agent Carter picks up in 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life–Steve Rogers.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are working on the series, while the directors of that movie – Anthony and Joe Russo – will be helming episodes two and three.

Captain America: The First Avenger director Joe Johnston will direct the fourth episode of Agent Carter.
