Ender's-Game-Teaser-PosterWith less than six months to go on the clock before Ender’s Game hits theatres, the anticipation is slowly but surely beginning to rise for what is shaping up to be Summit’s new franchise-starter, following the conclusion of Twilight last year.

Last week brought with it the first footage from the film in the form of a trailer preview. And, as promised, the first teaser trailer has now debuted in full, in tandem with a live Google+ hangout with director Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), producer Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Transformers), and the young Asa Butterfield (Hugo).

In the near future, a hostile alien race (called the Formics) have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander, Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young children to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy, but strategically brilliant boy is pulled out of his school to join the elite.

Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult war games, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham, himself, to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

Butterfield leads the cast as the eponymous Ender, with the young Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) starring opposite him as Petra. The two are joined by a great cast, headed up by Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, Abigail Breslin, Viola Davis, Moises Arias, and Brandon Soo Hoo.

Hood is directing from his own script, based on the original novel by Orson Scott Card.

Ender’s Game will be released in theatres on 25th October in the UK, with its US release date set for the following week on November 1st. Here’s the first teaser trailer in full to give you a taste of what to expect. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Does this first look live up to your expectations?
