Enders-Game-VFX-9Ender’s Game is the last big potential new franchise-starter in the young adult market for the year, landing in little more than a month’s time, and things have been looking strong for the film.

Asa Butterfield takes centre stage as the eponymous Ender in the sci-fi blockbuster, and the latest trailer teased plenty of action on a rather epic scale soon to be coming our way. With its release very much on the horizon, two new propaganda-style posters have surfaced, along with a handful of pretty impressive VFX images.

In the near future, a hostile alien race (called the Formics) have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander, Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young children to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy, but strategically brilliant boy is pulled out of his school to join the elite.

Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult war games, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham, himself, to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

Butterfield is joined by a great ensemble, led by Abigail Breslin, Hailee Steinfeld, Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, Aramis Knight, Moises Arias, Jimmy Pinchak, Brandon Soo Hoo, Nonso Anozie, and Viola Davis.

Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) is at the helm, directing from his own script, adapting the original novel of the same name by Orson Scott Card.

Ender’s Game is set to be released in the UK on 25th October, with its US release following on November 1st.
