We saw the first image from the film back in December, giving us a look at the young lead, Asa Butterfield, alongside Harrison Ford. And now fansite EnderWiggin.net have been treated to our first look at the young Hailee Steinfeld.
“In the near future, a hostile alien race (called the Formics) have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander, Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young children to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy, but strategically brilliant boy is pulled out of his school to join the elite.
Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult war games, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham, himself, to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.”
Butterfield, Steinfeld, and Ford are joined by a fantastic cast, headed up by Abigail Breslin, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Moises Arias, and Brandon Soo Hoo.
Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) is behind the camera, directing from his own script, based on the original novel by Orson Scott Card.
The Oscar-nominated Steinfeld (True Grit) has been deservedly on the rise in recent years, and has a slew of films on her slate coming out soon, including Can a Song Save Your Life?, Romeo and Juliet, and Three Days to Kill. She’s fast becoming one of Hollywood’s biggest names amongst its young stars, and Ender’s Game is sure to cement that status even more by the end of the year.
Ender’s Game is currently set for release in the UK on 25th October, with its US release date set for 1st November. For now, here’s our first look at Steinfeld as Petra Arkanian.
