Ever since the first teaser trailer for The Defenders was released, the prevailing opinion has been that Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist will come together to battle The Hand. The villainous ninja clan has been teased throughout the first two seasons of The Man Without Fear’s solo series while it’s also thought they’ll factor into Iron Fist’s show as well.

Adding further weight to that theory is the fact that Marvel and Netflix have now confirmed that Elodie Yung is set to reprise the role of Elektra in The Defenders. When we last saw her, she had been killed by The Hand and then dug up and placed in a casket designed to bring her back from the dead. As fans of the comics know, they succeed, but the Elektra who is resurrected isn’t the same one who died and it’s up to Matt to restore her soul and mind.

Yung joins a supporting cast which also includes Elden Henson, Deborah Ann Woll, Eka Darville, Carrie-Anne Moss, Simone Missick, Rachael Taylor, Scott Glenn, Jessica Henwick, and Rosario Dawson. Rumour has it that Jon Bernthal may also appear as The Punisher.

The Defenders meanwhile consists of Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones.

The specific role Elektra will end up playing in the show remains to be seen, but we know that The Hand wants to use her as a weapon and she’ll no doubt factor into their plans somehow!
