Whenever Steven Spielberg pencils in a new movie, it’s cause for celebration among film fans, and Ready Player One looks set to be no exception. Of course, we won’t get to see it until he’s finished with Bridge of Spies and The BFG, but a shortlist of actresses has already emerged. While two of the five considered remain a mystery, we do know the other three.
Those are Elle Fanning (Super 8), Olivia Cooke (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), and Lola Kirke (Mistress America). It sounds like they’re the top contenders for the role of Art3mis.
Who? In Ernie Cline’s Ready Player One, Art3mis is the the avatar of Samantha Cook within the Oasis, which is the name of the virtual reality universe at the center of the sci-fi story.
The Wrap adds that there’s no word on which young male actors are being considered for the role of Wade Watts, an Oasis user who sets off on a series of challenges to win an invaluable prize. Getting to work with Spielberg is a big deal for any up and coming actor, so you have to believe that these roles are among the most coveted roles in Hollywood right now.
